RAMOOOOONE, GIVE THESE MEDDLING MEDIA 'WATCHDOGS' SOMETHING BETTER TO DO! (AS WELL AS SOME HORRIBLE DISEASE)
The two leading satellite radio networks, XM and Sirius, are still attempting to seal a merger deal under heavy scrutiny from antitrust forces. That job just became a little harder with a new shock jock scandal in the making that could make the Imus story look like a small blip.

XM satellite radio hosts Opie and Anthony recently broadcast a skit segment in which a character homeless man visits the show and talks about forced sex with the Secretary of State Condi Rice -- with the encouragement of the show hosts.
Wired digg this
Breitbart.tv is the one who put up the audio, completely out of context, and started the ball rolling. Which I find very disappointing. This is Media Matters-level stuff, and that is not a compliment. I thought we'd all learned a lesson about manufactured outrage after the Imus debacle? Apparently not.

My only consolation is that this is one of the rare occasions where most of the comments are actually smarter than the original posts. (No offense, commenters everywhere.) Anytime I've seen this brought up today, the commenters have pointed out little details the original posts missed, like the fact that the audio in question was broadcast on XM, which you pay a monthly fee to listen to and has over 200 other channels. And you can block O&A and the other adult-language channels if you don't want to listen to them. Problem solved. Not to mention that it's not illegal to be tasteless and mock a homeless guy's demented fantasies. It's not nice, but you're allowed to not be nice.

For whatever good it does: I thoroughly condemn and repudiate these intimidation tactics. It stinks when Soros and Sharpton do it, and it stinks when Breitbart and Hot Air do it.

Note: The following audio contains adult language and ideas that might just make you uncomfortable. It's your choice whether or not to click Play. But if that's insufficient, feel free to call for my head at redeye@foxnews.com.

P.S. I forgot to put in the strikethrough sections in the quote from Wired. Originally they said it was a "skit" in which a "character" said that stuff, but then they clarified that it was an interview with a Hobo-American of dubious mental soundness. The Condi stuff wasn't anything that O&A planned, but he said it and they ran with it a little. Whether Breitbart realizes it or not, pulling it out of context like that is, well, pulling it out of context. That's why it's called context.

P.P.S. In the comments, Ubermosher says: "I guess the only difference between the left and right in 2007 politics is their sacred cows." Yep.
