ANALOGIES ARE FUN!
In the world of professional wrestling, an up-and-coming wrestler will be given a "push," in which the promotion tries to sell him to the fans as a "face" (good guy) or "heel" (bad guy). This wrestler is often short on experience and technical ability when compared with many of his peers, but he can generate "heat" in other ways, such as charisma, good mic skills, the ability to whip up a crowd, or luscious, kissable lips. There is always the danger that the wrestler will be "pushed down the fan's throats" until they tire of him, at which point he begins to draw "go-away heat."

Also, the wrestler will often have a very stupid name that nobody would ever have in real life.

I don't know what made me think of all that.

And yes, I do suppose George W. Bush could be considered the Shane McMahon of politics! Except he looks a lot better shirtless (allegedly).
