'NO SOMOS RESPONSABLES DE NUESTRO PROPIO COMPORTAMIENTO'

By VilisConsilium
It's a conspiracy. They made her slip. She was just too hot for them to handle.
By ZeldaC
Donald Trump had the perfect opportunity to be a gentleman and come to this poor girl's defense, but instead he chooses to be a giant, strangely coiffed pussy once again.
By VilisConsilium
Wait, makes me wonder if she would've won if it wasn't for all of this...
By VilisConsilium
ZeldaC, excellent point. Especially after his long defense of Tara Conner.
By dustrider
Well, at least they didn't yell "Osama" at her, like they did with the U.S. team before the World Cup last year.

By Texas Bob
Certainly makes their statement load and clear. They don't want to come to our country. They want to come and become THEIR country (again). Remember the Alamo!!!!
By Texas Bob
load and clear or loud in clear, whatever...
By Right...
Maybe we should invade them. Bring back napalm and land mines.

By Texas Bob
Better yet, let's just stop THEIR invasion and keep what we've got?

Please press one to continue in English, prensa dos para al español por favor.

I think Mexicans just don't like black people.
By ilikevanilla
Check out Page 6, Marsden was supposedly escorted out of Fox News Midtown headquarters by security because of erratic behavior. What's up with that?!!!?? Daily Gut insider's report please!
By OtisWild
Sounds like SOMEBODY is running low on semen...

"She's out of her [bleeping] mind. She was doing crazy stuff," a spy told us.

And this makes her unsuitable for the show because?
By jd nyc
the next few weeks' worth of shows should be really lively with 2 guest panelists each night until Elizabeth Hasselbeck joins the team

That whole strategy of having Rachel stalk her until the contract was signed was bound to be effective but I wonder if anyone even imagined that it would work THIS well (didn`t even take a full week)!

See, kids? You should always leave these things to the Pro`s

...
By DarkUrthe
Well it is good to see Mexicans can be as rude in their own house as they are when breaking into ours...
By DarkUrthe
Where was Rachel last night? I like her, but the extra guests have shown I don't really miss her...
By DarkUrthe
Nevermind, she has a snippet on her website.

In hind site I guess I saw the writing on the wall. If we had real forums here and a less restrictive character count I would explain...

Best of luck Rachel (like she scans The Daily Gut...)
By nor cal ken
That explanation sounds like Sean Penn\'s statement when he came back from Iran. \"They are just saying \'Death to America,\' they don\'t mean it.\"
By DarkUrthe
NCK, only difference between them and Penn was he DID mean it.
By dustrider
Rachel had become a weight on the show, whether she said something that killed the buzz or not -- it was just a matter of expecting a bad line. On the other hand, any more comedians who come on the show and say "Why are we talking about (name some bizarre Gutfeld obsession) when (name something that's Bush's fault) is happening" should be banished to the No. 5 spot on Olbermann's show permane...
By dustrider
..tly (it's really not a 400 character limit, it's 397, because they cut off the last three letters with those dots...)

By DarkUrthe
Dustrider, yeah. Rachel as of late has just been sort of painful to watch. As you say an anchor, though I will say an albatross around the neck of the show.

The problem I think is she just does not think on her feet very well, had poor comedic timing and a limited number of riffs. So she ran out of gas quick on the show. She would have been a better regular guest than a cast member.

W...
By DarkUrthe
grumble... stupid limit... no warning

When Samantha Judge sat in for her last week the show picked up speed immidiately... which is telling.

I like Rachel early on and feel bad someone has to lose a gig, but it seems like she ran out of gas. What else could the powers that be do?

By OtisWild
I always thought some of the funniest stuff was her going all Margaret Dumont when someone was talking about guns..
By OtisWild
Albatross!
By DarkUrthe
As for hack comics with the old throw Bush under the bus line... they need not be re-booked. Irrra is the only one who has been on that I thought did a decent job of it.
By ZeldaC
Donald Trump is almost as funny as Sean Penn, but not quite. I don't know if anyone can top, "I understand the nature of where it [the Death to America chant] comes from and what its intention is, but I don't think it's productive because I think the message goes to the American people and it is interpreted very literally."
By DarkUrthe
Sean Penn's high intellectual moment was when he was punching papparatzi.
By jd nyc
If aliens (interplanetary kind, not lettuce-picking kind aka ‘visitors` as opposed to ‘guests`) came to Earth to observe mankind and the only specimens they encountered were Miss USA, Rosie O, Mike Baker & Donald Trump, do you think they would conclude that human race is comprised of 4 distinct genders?
By dustrider
DarkUrthe --

The "escorted out of the studio" thing on Page 6 (if true) makes it sound as if she either realized she was becoming a source of ridicule for her inability to think funny quickly and wasn't a happy camper about it, or she wasn't too pleased about the decision after the fact. Too bad, unless you enjoyed the cringe moments.

By DarkUrthe
Gossip columns are the lowest of the low in my experience. I like Rachel well enough, she just was increasingly painful to watch and her firing really is no surprise. I hope she lands on her feet and gets a TV gig that doesn't feel like she was shoehorned into.
By DarkUrthe
Dustrider: It could be all those things in one cringeworthy sandwich.
By Big Lord Fauntleroy
I rather liked Rachel. But I'm rather obtuse. It will really be a test for Bill, seing as many of his best moments came directly from her incredible foildom. I think he might come off as unintelligibly left without her outright conservative counterbalance...but Bill is freaking hilarious. Unfortunately, this leaves Andy as the only regular who is politically acceptable (Bill being left of center ...
By Big Lord Fauntleroy
... for hilarity's sake and Greg playing stupid for...well...hilarity's sake) but he's not in the panel. The Rachel-less panel just feels a little too left, and it won't be as funny in the long run. Last night's show was just way too left. Still funny. But the "Professor" BS and the like will get really old really quick if it's just Andy left to fight the good fight.
By R.E.O. Speedwagon
If Rachel wants a new guy to stalk, I'm available. Seriously though, we all saw this coming. Ann Coulter and Marsden are both crazy but at least Ann is happy just writing.
By dustrider
I can deal with guest professors or lawyer types spouting boilerplate, since they're not supposed to be funny and it usually gives Andy new material for 32 after the hour. It's the comics who act as if they're expecting Bill Mahr instead of Greg to be in charge that are more annoying than the motorized scooter commercials.
By VilisConsilium
Perhaps this format was not for Rachel. My problem with her on Red Eye, is that her jokes made the conservative opinion look asinine. Hopefully, they`ll hire a conservative replacement that knows how to handle this format. She`s right, if the show moves away too much from politics to the fun strange news stories, then Red Eye will lose its edge, and will never be taken seriously.
By VilisConsilium
If Red Eye loses its edge, that would be a damn shame. I'm wondering what the new direction is...
By PowWow
Still think the show is great. But have noticed a lot lately people with projects to promote. Movies, tv shows etc. Or that jackass "comic" and his agenda Tuesday night. Hope that's not the new direction
By PowWow
Good point dust. That guy was on the wrong show. Smirk never left his face
By VilisConsilium
Dustrider and PowWow make good points, especially PowWow's take on too many guests having projects to promote. I worry about it turning into mainstream promotion for big Hollywood stuff. If I wanted that I'd watch ET or Extra. Boring...
By lizard boy
Well, the handwriting was really on the wall earlier this week with Andy's slashing remark, the exchange between Rachel and Rebecca Gomez, and the Red Eye insider's postings here. I can only imagine what was going on in there. I surprised they didn't have to wheel her out Hannibal Lecter style.

By OtisWild
What would Groucho do without Margaret Dumont?
By DarkUrthe
Lizard Boy, on one of the shows Rachel was not on last week (I think the Samantha Judge fill in) his comment that Rachel was chatty was pretty funny.

In hindsite her departure seems pretty obvious... I think there were several aspects of her on the show that compelled the powers that be to push her out the door...
By lizard boy
That was pretty funny, but not the remark I was thinking of.

A couple of days earlier, Andy read a story about a woman being fired for spreading false rumors in the workplace. There was no joke involved, he just said, "Cool."
By DarkUrthe
Lizard Boy, I missed that show, but a telling non-joke.
By jd nyc
Re: Rachel

The real writing on the wall was the shot of Greg`s reaction a few weeks ago when panelists were discussing an act of terrorism as ‘cowardly` & Rachel said something like "maybe he`s auditioning for the part of Red Eye Ombudsman"

It was such a look of revulsion that he could not have known the camera was on him...and yet, they didn`t even bother to edit it out...
